Paula Savage Cohen is a Senior Attorney in the Supporting Families Workgroup at Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA), her employer since 1995. She coordinates the services of LAFLA’s Domestic Violence Clinic at the Long Beach Courthouse, one of three LAFLA clinics to offer free legal services to victims of domestic violence. Paula and her colleagues represent and counsel clients in all areas of family law, focusing on domestic violence, child custody and child abduction; and in areas of immigration law serving victims of crime and domestic violence with VAWA and U Visa-based petitions. Paula has served as Adjunct Faculty at UCI School of Law, teaching client interviewing skills, confidentiality, ethics, and self-care to law students externing with legal services organizations. Paula enjoys teaching and mentoring; she is a regular presenter at local and statewide trainings and conferences. Paula has served on the Board of Directors of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence, and on the State Bar of California’s Family Law Executive Committee. She still serves on the board of End Abuse Long Beach, after having served as its President from 2001-2014. She is a past board member of Family Service of Long Beach, the Long Beach Bar Association, the Long Beach Grand Cru, and the Long Beach Police Department’s Women's Advisory Group. Paula has five children ranging in age from 29 to 19.
