Lisa Alexander is a Supervising Attorney with Day One, a New York City-based nonprofit that provides services to people aged 12-24 who have experienced dating, domestic, or sexual violence. Lisa advises and represents clients in Family Court litigation; supervises legal staff, legal interns, pro bono attorneys, and graduate student Capstone teams; conducts trainings; and assists in the creation of and advocacy for youth-centered policy objectives.
Prior to joining Day One, Lisa was a Staff and a Senior Staff Attorney for Sanctuary For Families. Based in the Bronx Family Justice Center, Lisa provided free civil legal screenings and represented clients in Family Court and the Integrated Domestic Violence Part. She is a graduate of Albany Law School and Allegheny College.
Lisa is currently a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Domestic Violence Committee and the Working Group on Racial Equity in New York State Courts; the Cyber Abuse Task Force; the Downstate Legislative Committee; Denim Day NYC; and Sex Ed Now NY. She currently co-chairs the New York City Lawyers’ Committee Against Domestic Violence.
